Everything you need to create the perfect print! Follow the steps below and browse our FAQs and example photos for extra guidance and ideas.

Receiving your kit

In your kit you will find: An order form, one metal pot, two smaller pots, three balls of red wax (PLEASE DO NOT COMBINE THESE), paper discs and a pre paid return envelope. 

PREPARING THE WAX

STEP 1:

  • Make sure hands are clean and dry to ensure a clear and detailed print 


STEP 2:

  • Inside the metal pot will be 3 balls of red wax - Please do not combine these, you will be using all three.
  • Take a ball of wax and warm it - You can do this by simply rolling the wax between your fingers until its soft and malleable, or you can warm the wax using a hair dryer for a few seconds, being careful not to melt the wax. You are looking for the wax to be the consistency of blu-tac. 


STEP 3:

  • Once the wax is warmed, roll it between your palms to make a ball.
  • Keep rolling until the wax ball is smooth and there are no cracks.
  • Follow the instructions below to take your impression.
  • Please complete the order form enclosed and return it with ALL of your impressions, using the pre-paid envelope.

WAYS TO PREPARE WAX:

  • WARM BETWEEN FINGERS

    Roll the ball between your fingers until it softens to the consistency of blu-tac.

  • IN WARM WATER

    Place wax balls in warm water for around 30 seconds until it gets soft and malleable. Take care not to have the water too hot as it will melt the wax.

  • HAIR DRYER

    You could also heat the wax ball with a hair dryer for a few seconds to get it to the desired consistency.

  • PERFECT PRINT

  • NOT SO GREAT - RE-ROLL AND TRY AGAIN

FOR SINGLE SIDED PRINTS:

  • On a hard and flat surface, place the ball onto one of the white paper discs provided
  • Using your chosen finger, firmly press into the centre of the ball and hold for a few seconds to create the impression - Careful not to press too hard as this will make the wax too thin. 
  • Gently lift your finger straight up to avoid smudging the print. 
  • If you aren’t happy with your print, simply warm the wax and roll back into a ball and try again! You can repeat this until you are happy with your impression. 
  • For multiple prints on one side, take the impressions from largest to smallest. You can get as creative as you like, either overlapping the prints on top of each other or having them side by side. 
  • Be sure to take a close look at the print and sure you are happy with the size and detail of the wax pendant, as this is exactly how it will look in metal. 
  • Repeat these steps for each of the 3 balls of wax. Please return all 3 prints so we have options, but place your preferred impression in the metal tin labelled ‘Favourite’, and the other 2 prints in the plastic pots.

FOR DOUBLE SIDED PRINTS

  • To create a double sided print, prepare the wax in the exact same way and place the ball between both fingers and press evenly, taking care not to make the wax too thin.
  • Gently peel one finger off at a time, taking extra care not to disturb the prints on either side.

PET PRINTS

  • To create a pet print, you can use either their nose or paw. Paw is recommended, as they are usually easier to capture an impression from. Nose prints can also be taken, but are best suited for calmer pets. 
  • Warm the wax in the same way and on a hard surface place the ball of wax on the paper disc. For nose prints you could use the lid of the metal tin. 
  • Press your pet’s paw firmly down onto the wax and hold for a few seconds to get a detailed impression.
  • Take care around fur: Keep the wax on the paw pad/nose only and away from surrounding fur as it can become stuck.
  • Carefully lift your pet’s paw straight up from the wax and inspect the wax to make sure you’re happy with the detail. 
  • You could also use your own finger to press the wax onto your pet’s paw or nose, creating a beautiful double sided pet and fingerprint of you both!


Once you are happy with your impressions, please place them carefully in their pots, complete the order form and return everything using the pre-paid envelope enclosed.
